Team Approach to Reaching Goals Through Education and Training (TARGET) Grant Program
"To educate, communicate and facilitate supports leading to employment for persons with disabilities."
We focus on serving at-risk youth and adults with disabilities in providing:
- Job Seeking Skills Training and Job Placement
- Public Resource Application Assistance
- Self-Employment Resources
- Internships and Mentorships
TARGET is a federally funded grant program of the United States Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration, Disability Employment Initiative:
Meet with Disability Resource Coordinators in One-Stop Career Centers, community locations, and schools to identify, provide, and/or coordinate the next steps in the path to employment. We bring together public and community agencies and resources to increase the employment and independence of youth with disabilities.
For high school aged youth: Successful employment is reached through the coordination of education and training, job search, and community resources. The Disability Resource Coordinators will help participants develop their individual road maps through the use of the Guideposts for Success (http://www.ncwd-youth.info/guideposts) to better prepare youth for self-sufficiency.
For adult participants: Disability Resource Coordinators will help participants use their post-high school experiences to focus on the additional vocational preparation (education, training, job-search) and community resources necessary for success and independence.
