
Work Incentive Planning & Assistance
WIPA offers FREE services to Social Security Disability Beneficiaries statewide to help SSDI and SSI beneficiaries to understand the options and possibilities to help the individual make an informed choice about going to work.
Community Work Incentive Coordinators (CWIC) provide Work Incentive Planning and Assistance (WIPA) services to Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and/or Supplement Security Income (SSI) recipients aged 14 to full retirement age that are working, looking for work or interested in working.
CWICs have specialized training in Social Security work incentives and procedures for individuals receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI), as well as in other work related benefits issues such as:
- Medicaid/Medicare
- Food Stamps
- Housing and Rental Assistance
- Unemployment
- Workers Compensation
- Veteran Benefits
- Medicaid for workers with Disabilities
How Can We Help You?
You can be connected with a CWIC in your area who can help you by offering:
- Work Incentive Planning:
- Analyzing current benefits, developing a written plan outlining use of work incentives with a projected or actual employment goal
- Work Incentive Assistance:
- Assisting individuals in determining advantageous work incentives and available resources throughout employment efforts. Long term assistance with information, referral and problem solving
- Outreach:
- Answering questions during Work Incentive Semiars and other outreach sessions about general work-related Social Security rules and incentives and referring people to related services for which they may be eligible.
Continued Support:
If problems arise regarding employment and you benefits, we can help you gather the information necessary to get responses from the Social Security Administration, the Department of Health and Human Services and other agencies.
Is Connecting or Re-connecting with a CWIC Ever Urgent?
YES, an individual who is employed or self employed or considering an offer of employment usually need prompt attention. Other important times to meet or reconnect with a CWIC include:
- Getting a job, a raise, or increase in work hours
- Considering employer benefits
- Decreasing work hours or ending employment
- Starting or finishing an educational program
- Starting a business
- Interested in a Plan to Achieve Self-Support (PASS)
- Received a Ticket to Work and want to know how it can benefit you
