The Team Approach to Reaching Goals through Education and Training
The Team Approach to Reaching Goals through Education and Training grant program or TARGET was developed to educate, communicate and facilitate the supports that help people with disabilities to go to work. Program staff focus on serving at-risk youth and adults with disabilities by providing:
- Job Seeking Skills Training and Placement
- Public Resource Application Assistance
- Self-Employment Resources
- Internships and Mentorships
Individuals meet with Disability Resource Coordinators in local One-Stop Career Centers, community locations, and schools to increase employment and independence of youth and adults with disabilities.
For high school aged youth: Successful employment is reached through the coordination of education and training, job search, and community resources. The Disability Resource Coordinators will help participants develop their individual road maps to employment through the use of the Guideposts for Success to better prepare youth for self-sufficiency.
For adult participants: Disability Resource Coordinators will help participants use their post-high school experiences to focus on the additional vocational preparation (education, training, job-search) and community resources necessary for success and independence.
